Hi, I'm the marketing producer for Reactuate Games, a new game company in Texas, and we have yet to create any playable content. We are documenting the entire process-- streaming meetings, writing blog content (including dev blogs), and slowly generating a following-- but we only have till September when our Kickstarter begins. How do I market a game that isn't a game yet? And how do I get the community interested in us without a product ready to show? Please&thankyou!

Hi! Thanks for your question.

It can be a challenge to market a game when you haven't actually got the game yet, and that's what we've been doing for the past year.

You've got to have a strong game concept as that is essentially what you are selling at this point. You don't want to be too secretive with the game either, we have revealed things over time but the more things that people know about the game the more interested they are likely to be. Focus on the game's USPs (Unique Selling Points - blog post here.) and what makes your game stand out from others. This could be a game mechanic, a setting or art style but once you know what that is you can really start using the USP to sell the concept. We show a lot of work in progress screenshots alongside this so that people following us can see visual representations of what we are doing as well.

You might not have a ton of followers by September but focus on getting ones that are genuinely interested in how the game is developing. What social media are you using?
